Representing the Southwest, y’all!
We are huge fans of the CBS Sunday Morning tv program and one of our favorite trademarks of the show is to see what sun art follows each segment. So one day, because we try to get chiles into virtually every aspect of our lives, we went on a picnic and arranged Hatch green chiles and sweet multi-colored peppers into a sun pattern, and sent it in to the Keeper Of the Suns, Jessica Frank.
Earlier this year the show honored her with a beautiful profile on how she selects the art, how she cherishes the notes and stories attached to the artworks, and the joy of pairing the perfect sun with the right story. And so you can imagine how we leapt off the couch when our chile peppers showed up as a part of the story. What an honor!
Here is the link to the segment.
Jessica receives thousands of sun artworks from young’uns and the young at heart, professional artists, art students as a class assignments … she is seriously the “Queen of Suns.”
One of our all-time favorite stories we go back to is the one about the little girl Kylie Brown and her duck Snowflake who adopted her as his mom.
Do you have a favorite Sunday Morning segment? We’d love to know, so please feel free to share in the comments below.
Good day sunshine!

ChileSage, thank you! Bucket list honor we hadn’t expected!
Congrats! The story on Emilia Clarke GoT is a good one. Sun art is a ball of fire. Nailed it.
Shannon & Drew, thanks, we saw that one and the sun image was perfection. Jessica is truly the sun whisperer!
Oh how fun! Congratulations! I also love the one with the little girl and her duck. Frida Kahlo The Art and the Artist is wonderful glimpse into the artist and her life. The sun is a bright beautiful face surrounded by roses.
Hi Sunshine, we were hoping we’d hear from you! We also love the Frida segment, thanks … we’ll be watching it again this weekend.
