SWD GUEST Q&A:
SWD:Are you originally from the Southwest? If not, what brought you to the area?
Suzanne: I’m from the Pacific Northwest. I came to Durango for a job and fell in love with this beautiful area. I left my job after nearly four years, but stayed here and opened up my own marketing business.
SWD: Soft Tacos or Crunchy?
Suzanne: Absolutely
SWD:What is your favorite adventure or getaway in the Southwest?
Suzanne: I started cycling two years ago. This May I’ll ride the Iron Horse for the third time. I’ve also ridden the Durango Fall Blaze, the Tour of the Moon in Grand Junction, and will ride the Santa Fe (half) Century the weekend before the Iron Horse. I’m lucky enough to live 15 minutes from Purgatory and spend as many days on the slopes as I possibly can!
SWD: What is your favorite Southwestern National Park?
Suzanne: I haven’t had a chance to check all of them out, but I’ve so enjoyed Mesa Verde. Everyone who visits me gets a day trip there!
SWD: Red or Green (or Christmas)?
Suzanne: Christmas. On the side.
SWD: What is the most satisfying aspect of what you do?
Suzanne: Helping businesses see improvements when their marketing plans ties back to business goals. Measuring results and making continuous adjustments is key!
SWD: What is the most challenging aspect of what you do?
Suzanne: Juggling client projects and keeping a little time for myself!
SWD: Corn or flour tortillas?
Suzanne: flour
SWD: Do you cook? What do you love to make?
Suzanne: I do love to cook! While the main course is my favorite, I also enjoy baking. I think my Bacon, Cheddar, Chive Scones are a big winner. I also bake with sourdough starter and like the cookies and cakes that can be made with an unfed starter. I have a Carrot Cake recipe that’s really good.
SWD: What do you absolutely refuse to eat?
Suzanne: Green bell peppers.
SWD: This may have just been answered, but … What are your thoughts on menudo (and no, we don’t mean the boy band)?
Suzanne: While I haven’t experienced it yet, it seems to demand a group effort to prepare–so bring on the party!
SWD: If you hypothetically moved away from the Southwest, what would you ask people to send to you in a care package? What would you miss the most about the Southwest?
Suzanne: Hatch Green Chiles. I would miss the spectacular scenery–and living close to skiing!
SWD: Is there a Southwest destination you’ve been wanting to visit?
Suzanne: Canyonlands is definitely on my list.
SWD: Do you have a mantra?
Suzanne: Do or do not. There is no try. ~Yoda

I share her life mantra and sentiments towards green bell peppers. 🙂
Gemma, we are loving the life mantras of our Q&A guests, and isn’t it so fun to learn about all of the things we refuse to eat? Thanks for the comment.
