Margaritas are a Cinco de Mayo tradition, however, if you’d like to switch things up with a sweet tangy tequila cocktail with a kick … this one is a bubbly celebration that’s devilishly refreshing.
And an easy mix …
First run a lime wedge along the rim of your champagne flutes, then dip and turn in granulated sugar to coat.
Add 1 tablespoon of tequila, the juice of one lime wedge, and top off with champagne.
If you choose a dry, not so sweet champagne you might want to add a little agave syrup.
I like a good reposado tequila … the caramel slightly aged flavor adds body to the cocktail. Some may prefer silver (clear) for a cleaner taste.
Note: this tiny bottle of KAH reposado holds about one jigger of tequila, so if you are making several drinks you’ll need a larger pint bottle.
Finally, garnish with a simple lime curl and CHEERS!
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
