Inspired by a recent trip to the charming Purple Adobe Lavender Farm in northern New Mexico, we were reminded of the calming qualities of lavender. And so, as we left their tea house toting a bag filled with lavender goodies, we stopped into the farm store for lavender soaps, body mists, and culinary lavender for making tea.
As often as possible, we make a point to drink green tea for the antioxidants, and it made perfect sense for us to create a blend to keep on hand in the fridge. Decaf green tea maintains the stress relief of the soothing lavender, and the two pair beautifully together. This recipe is easy as you please, slightly sweet, and the fragrance of the lavender as you bring a cup to your lips is an absolute delight. Please enjoy this lullaby drink …
EASY LAVENDER GREEN TEA
Makes: 6 1-cup servings
6 cups water
1 1/2 Tblsp sugar
2 tsp dried culinary edible lavender flowers
2 tsp decaf green tea (or 2 tea bags)
Boil the water in a medium saucepan. Add the sugar. Boil for 30 seconds until the sugar has dissolved and remove from heat.
Add the lavender and green tea. Give it a quick stir and cover with lid. Steep for 5 minutes. Strain into a medium bowl and allow to cool. Transfer to a glass pitcher and refrigerate. Serve over ice or as is.

I grew up with homemade tea. This looks like a refreshing combination. Am looking forward to trying this with the lavender.
