Last week we shared the 7 Reasons We Love Los Poblanos Inn of Albuquerque and promised you the 8th … this charming little shop that is producing some of the highest quality small batch lavender items ever! This is why everyone at the Inn smells like lavender (products are also stocked in the inn’s guest rooms.)
Located in a refurbished dairy building on the historic 25 acre estate of organic farm and lavender fields, they grow and process the robust French hybrid Grosso lavender, a variety that is steam distilled to produce not only a lovely essential oil, but more of it per plant.
Pictured is the store, front and back rooms, and far in the back is the greenhouse where they raise starter plants.
Poured over pancakes, ice cream or in your morning cup of tea, the honey is divine. Other food items they are known for are local truffles, artisan balsamic vinegar, culinary lavender, tea assortments, and dipping herbs of Chile Rojo, Herbs de Poblanos and Classic Blends.
Welcome relief from the intense Southwestern sun and arid climate is their skin care line. Two signature potions, the lavender lotion and hand salve are soothing and luxurious. The salve is made weekly and is instant relief for hands, and can be massaged into the temples for headache relief. Another reason to love these products … they are healing.
Guests of the shop also love to browse locally curated items like hand embroidered towels, dish ware, vases, wooden cutting boards, cooking utensils, cookbooks and so much more.
The staff is well informed about all of their products and are known for going to great lengths to represent the best of New Mexico with sustainable, quality ingredients and hard to find cooking items. The Grosso lavender fields are in bloom typically in July, and they offer workshops on aromatherapy, cultivating lavender as well as tours, dining events and demonstrations from their Los Poblanos Lavender Labs education series. We are hooked! and will make a point to return with every trip to The Duke City.

Buen Provecho and Great Discoveries!

Dtom, We suggest that you consult lavender growers in your area who can give you instructions and tips for the soil and conditions in your valley. Best of luck!
